Sit back and relax or dance the evening away on the stage. Entertainment is included with your entrance to The Butchart Gardens.

Multi-award-winning recording artist and international cabaret star, Diane Pancel, has returned home following a five-week cabaret tour in Switzerland this summer. Best known for her LA-based Ladies of Hollywood, Ladies of Song, and American Songbook cabaret hits, and well-loved for her ability to connect with the audience, Diane draws inspiration from her Portuguese/Hungarian background giving her music a strong sense of international soul. An extremely versatile performer, Diane has performed alongside artists such as David Foster, Nelly Furtado, Leanne Rimes, and Matt Dusk. She has been featured multiple times on major television networks, has performed across the U.S. at major sporting events for the L.A. Kings, L.A. Galaxy, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, and the US Women’s national Soccer team, and has recently been nominated for two International Portuguese Music Awards – best pop performance and song of the year. dianepancelmusic.com
Kim Greenwood is a multi-faceted vocalist and educator whose work spans genres. Her professional career began three decades ago at Grafton St. Dinner Theatre in Halifax, N.S.. Since then, she has performed with many groups, ranging from small ensembles to soloist with full orchestra, locally and internationally. Kim has created numerous shows including “Ella at 100”, “All About That Verse”, “The Carpenters and Burt Bacharach”, and “Doris and Judy Together” with Diane Pancel. She was the music director and production coordinator for Attitude Theatre’s highly successful “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill”, the first licensed theatrical production to be staged at Hermann’s Jazz Club. Kim has twice been honoured as a JUNO awards judge in the Vocal Jazz and the Adult Contemporary Album of the Year categories. Kim is a highly regarded vocal educator dedicated to promoting healthy techniques for a range of vocal styles, from classical to belting; she teaches clients around the globe, from hobbyists to professionals. Kim is also the lead vocalist with the Commodores Big Band, Victoria's oldest big band dance band. Kim’s voice resonates with a timeless warmth and expressive depth, reminiscent of vocalists from the golden eras of jazz and classic pop; every note is heartfelt, and every performance tells a story.
Joining Kim are Karel Roessingh on piano, and Ryan Tandy on bass.

I have been privileged to perform this beautiful, moving work for many years during Holy Week. St. Mary’s Oak Bay is a welcoming parish and no matter your faith or belief, please join us for this special concert. Admission is by donation and the concert will last approximately one hour.
“The Confession Stone" was written for Canadian contralto Maureen Forrester in 1966 by Canadian composer Robert Fleming and set to the text of African American poet Owen Dodson. It is "Seven Songs of Mary", depicting Christ from birth through crucifixion. Maureen used to take copies of the score with her wherever she went to give to students who had a genuine interest in learning the work. I will be accompanied by Jim Hill on piano.
Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater will be performed by my good friends Marnie Setka-Mooney and Sara Partridge. They will be accompanied by Curt Bergen on Organ.
This concert is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend, teacher, mentor, and churchwarden Catherine Young. All donations will go to The Victoria Bereavement Hospice Fund.
The Commodores Big Band returns to the Charlie White Stage on Sunday, March 10 with a show featuring “MUSIC FROM THE MOVIES”… with the dynamic sound only an 18-piece Big Band can produce!
I’m very excited to be singing some of my favourite movie tunes for this show! Vocals and Instrumentals include “Over the Rainbow” (Wizard of Oz), “Little Brown Jug” (Glenn Miller Story), “Nobody Does It Better” (James Bond) “Friend Like Me” (Aladdin) and “Soul Bossa Nova” (Austin Powers)… and many more….you will enjoy all your favourites!

A new series! The inaugural Jazz Evensong service will be this Sunday, June 11th, 4-5pm with my quartet. The series will begin in earnest in September, on the 3rd Sunday of every month, presenting some of the best jazz musicians from the region. Evolving out of two ancient services of prayer as the sun is setting—vespers and compline—the service of Evensong is an opportunity to put the events of the past day into perspective, to ground one’s body, mind and spirit in preparation for the restorative night of sleep, when in our dreaming, our subconscious will continue the creative work of making sense of our experiences.
